Dr. Harit K. Bhatt, MD
Harit K. Bhatt MD is a board-certified ophthalmologist and vitreoretinal surgeon. He specializes in the medical and surgical diseases of the retina, vitreous, macula and uveitis. He also is a part of the clinical faculty at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He is expertly trained and skilled in the management of complex vitreoretinal and uveitic diseases. Dr. Bhatt utilizes the latest technology in the management of age-related macular degeneration, retinal vascular occlusions, diabetic retinopathy, retinal detachment surgery, macular hole surgery, diabetic surgery, and epiretinal membrane surgery. He is also one of the few retina specialists worldwide trained to use the NAVILAS computer-navigated retinal imaging and laser treatment system.
Dr. Keshav Narain
Keshav Narain was born in New Delhi, India where he lived for the first two years of his life and then moved to San Diego, CA. He completed undergraduate studies at the University of California at Berkeley where he received several awards. He graduated from medical school at the George Washington University School of Medicine where he developed an interest in ophthalmology. He then entered ophthalmology residency at the distinguished New Jersey Eye Institute at the New Jersey Medical School where he completed over 250 diverse ophthalmic procedures as primary surgeon.
Jerome Sherman OD, FAAO
Jerome Sherman, O.D., has published over 650 clinical articles, research manuscripts, book chapters and two CDs. He is senior author of three books that were published in 2007, and has delivered over three thousand lectures both nationally and internationally. He has served as a contributing editor for several optometric magazines. Having graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry, he presently holds the position of Distinguished Teaching Professor at State University of New York College of Optometry and the Schnurmacher Institute of Vision Research. Concurrently, he maintains a private practice, The Eye Institute and Laser Center, in New York City. Dr. Sherman is a founding member of both the International Foundation for Optic Nerve Disease (IFOND) and the Optometric Retina Society (ORS) and is now the President of ORS.
Diana Shechtman O.D. , F.A.A.O.
Dr. Diana Shechtman is an associate professor of optometry at Nova Southeastern University College of Optometry, where she serves as an attending optometric physician at the eye institute and diabetic/macula clinic.
Dr. Shechtman is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA) and she is a fellow of American Academy of Optometry (AAO), as well as the Optometric Retinal Society (ORS). Her area of interest has centered on retinal disease and other ocular pathologies. She has participated in various research projects, authored numerous posters and publications. She is currently serving as an AAO faculty/student liaison; she is a member of the editorial board for the Optometry journal, Optometry Times, and Review of Optometry, where she co-authors the monthly “Research Review” column. She has also lectured on a local and national level on areas.
Jeffry D. Gerson OD, FAAO
Dr. Jeffry Gerson grew up in northwest Indiana, and first became interested in optometry as a young student. He went to Indiana University for undergraduate, and then graduated from Indiana University school of optometry in 1997. He came to Kansas when he came to do a residency at the VA medical center in Kansas City concentrating on ocular disease and low vision. Immediately after leaving the VA, he became faculty at the University of Kansas school of medicine in the department of ophthalmology. Dr. Gerson was responsible for staffing the optometric clinic which included routine eye care,contact lenses, and low vision, as well as some resident education.
He then moved into a private practice with emphasis on contact lenses. He practiced there for nearly 3 years, seeing a wide mix of patients from very young children to senior citizens. He then moved onto Mid America Retina Consultants where he only saw patients with retinal disease Through his years in practice, he has become particularly interested in advancements in contact lens materials, retinal treatments and advancements in technology leading to more efficient examination. He has been involved in clinical trials, and lectures frequently to optometrists nationally on these topics. He has also authored numerous articles in scientific journals. Because of his wide experience in practices and types of practices, he enjoys seeing patients of all ages, and especially those with challenging eye conditions.
Dana M. Deupree, M.D.
Dr. Deupree is a board-certified ophthalmologist. His area of sub-specialty includes medical and surgical management of macular disorders, diabetic retinopathy, complex retinal detachments and trauma. Dr. Deupree’s solo practice, The Macula Center, is devoted exclusively to treatment of the retina and macula.
Dr. Deupree received his medical degree from the American University of the Caribbean in 1983. He was a Harvard Research Fellow on a National Eye Institute grant in Boston with a focus on diabetic eye disease. He received his sub-specialty training in retina after completing a two-year surgical fellowship at Tulane Medical Center, New Orleans, Louisiana.
Currently, Dr. Deupree is involved in an early pilot study investigating a drug for dry AMD.
Jeff Evanson is an innovative marketing and business leader with successful outcomes developing and launching new products and therapies. He has a broad range of experience leading projects and building teams to identify share advantaged growth opportunities by developing new products in a competitive environment as well as leveraging existing technology to expand into new therapeutic areas (both novel and indication expansion). Jeff also has significant experience assessing new market opportunities, including deal valuation and structure for new and emerging therapies.
Currently, Jeff is the Global Director of Pharmaceutical Retina at Alcon Laboratories in Forth Worth, Texas. Prior to joining Alcon, Jeff was Marketing Director, Drug Delivery Therapies for Medtronic, Inc. During his 10 year career there, he also held roles in new ventures & market development responsible for products and therapies in development and in the marketplace. Jeff also has work experience in project management and pharmaceutical sales.
Jeff has successfully interacted with FDA and with CMS (Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services) with projects in Phase I stage(s) through commercialization and life cycle management. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Chemistry from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN and an M.B.A. from the University of Minnesota.
