The Macular Degeneration Association is proud to sharethis important information.
Age-related macular degeneration (AMD) is the main cause of severe vision loss. There is approximately 20 million Americans aged 40 and older living with some form of AMD. This total includes about 18.34 million with early-stage AMD and 1.49 million with late-stage AMD that affects vision.
Additionally, around 4 million Americans have low vision, which means they have chronic visual impairment that glasses, contact lenses, or medical treatments cannot fix.
