Key takeaways:

  • Patient-reported quality of life improved across multiple domains after Tryptyr treatment.
  • Most patients said they were satisfied with Tryptyr and would recommend it to a friend.

ANAHEIM, Calif. — Patients with dry eye disease who used Tryptyr reported significantly improved quality of life in addition to reduced dry eye symptoms, according to data presented at Academy 2026.

Tryptyr (acoltremon ophthalmic solution 0.003%, Alcon), approved by the FDA in 2025, is an eye drop designed to treat dry eye disease by stimulating natural tear production.

Patients with dry eye disease who used Tryptyr reported significantly improved quality of life in addition to reductions in dry eye symptoms.

“Now that the drug is on the market, we wanted to see how it actually performed in the real world,” Andrew D. Pucker, OD, PhD, FAAO, of Eminent Ophthalmic Services in Georgia, told Healio. “What did patients experience after starting this drug?”

Pucker and colleagues conducted a 1-month multi-site study of 39 adults with symptomatic dry eye disease treated with Tryptyr twice per day. Participants were seen at three visits — baseline, 2 weeks and 1 month — during which they completed questionnaires about their quality of life and satisfaction with Tryptyr.
