Speaker: Leo Semes, OD, FAAO- Medical Board.
Leo P. Semes earned his OD from Pennsylvania School of Optometry (POC) and completed a residency at The Eye Institute of Pennsylvania School of Optometry. He holds an appointment as Professor Emeritus of Optometry and Vision at the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry.
He is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry. Dr. Semes is a founding member of the Optometric Glaucoma Society, where he has served as Secretary and on the Executive Committee. He is a founding fellow of the Optometric Retina Society.
In 2015, the Alabama Optometric Association honored him with the Educator of the Year award. He also received the Dean’s Distinguished Service Award (2016).
Dr. Semes authored and contributed to the American Academy of Optometry Clinical and Practice Guidelines and was recognized as among the 50 most influential in Eye Care in 2015. Dr. Semes has authored numerous articles, book chapters, and posters. as a result.
Discussions: Wet and dry macular degeneration, geographic atrophy, diabetic eye disease, dry eye disease, and the Valeda Light Delivery System, the first FDA treatment for dry macular degeneration. Three videos will be shown about the Foresee Home Monitoring program, MacuHealth Supplements, and eSight.
