DENVER — ST-100 significantly improved signs and symptoms of dry eye disease in as little as 2 days, according to phase 3a data presented here.

“ST-100 by Stuart Therapeutics is a collagen mimetic peptide designed to repair damaged collagen on the ocular surface,” study author Jodi Luchs, MD, FACS, of Florida Vision Institute, told Healio. “It’s a new class of medication that has a completely different approach to the treatment of dry eye syndrome.”

Luchs highlighted that the drug is “agnostic as to the cause of dry eye.”

“It repairs the damaged collagen on the ocular surface, which is really the final common pathway of dry eye syndrome, whether it is evaporative or aqueous deficient or related to lid disease,” he said. “It can be used in complement to any of the other drugs that are currently out there.”
